Syllabus and Entries

The 2023 Syllabus is available to download here.

The deadline for entries is Friday 20th October 2023 at 23:59:59.

06/10/2023: Some people have asked us about providing sources for internet-accessed poems as we ask for a reference to an anthology. If you wish to use a poem from the internet, please just give us the weblink to find the poem and that will be perfect!

03/10/2023: We are delighted that Anthony Trodd has agreed to be the Official Accompanist for the String Classes. He can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01726 812753. Hannah Hawken remains the Official Accompanist for all other classes.

We are delighted to announce that as usual, the St Austell Festival will be hosting a String Workshop for beginners at the beginning of the Festival Music week. It will be held on the morning of Monday 27th November in the hall at St John’s Methodist Church. Novice string players will be invited to attend by their local string teachers, who will organise the morning. There will be no charge for the young people involved. This is always a most enjoyable event! For more information please email [email protected]

Entries should be made using the online RunMyFestival system. We are working on a page of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help answer any queries you may have. If you have any problems, please contact the appropriate Entries Secretary using the Contact page of this website.

An official Entry Form 2023 is also available to download.

An invoice for the appropriate entry fee will then be emailed to schools or individuals, including the necessary information to allow payment by BACS. Schools, please remember to fill in a purchase order number because some Multi-Academy Trusts will not pay invoices without this on the invoice sent to them.

Alternatively, if necessary, entry forms can still be sent by post, including cheques made payable to “St Austell Festival of Music and Speech”.  They should be sent to:

Music – Anne Keast, 6 Highfield Avenue, St Austell PL25 4SN

Spoken Word – Pat Whitehouse, 4 Crinnis Wood Avenue, St Austell PL25 3QD

All entries should be received by Friday 20th October 2022 at the latest.  Please note that late entries may not be accepted.

Please note that RunMyFestival must be used, or the Festival’s official entry forms, because this is also the means of indicating that the necessary consents have been obtained with regard to Safeguarding and Data Protection.
